Two TJSL Students, Law School Honored by SABA
October 25, 2011
Two Thomas Jefferson School of Law students, Aarti Kumar and Kajal Chowdhury, both 2L’s, received scholarship awards Saturday night, October 22, at the SABA-San Diego Annual Dinner & Awards Ceremony held at the Mingei Museum. SABA is the South Asian Bar Association.
The 2011 Aashish Garg Scholarship was awarded to Ms. Kumar in honor of the late Mr. Garg, an Associate Patent Counsel at Qualcomm Incorporated who passed away earlier this year. Mr. Chowdhury was given the 2011 Saba-San Diego Law Student Scholarship.
A third award, The Commitment to Diversity Award, was presented to Thomas Jefferson School of Law under SABA’s Service Awards category.
“It was terrific to see Aarti and Kajal acknowledged by SABA this year,” said TJSL’s Associate Dean for Student Affairs Beth Kransberger. “And we were most gratified to receive the organization’s institutional diversity award. This was the first time SABA acknowledged a law school for its efforts, other than a firm or a corporation. We were extremely honored by the award and will continue to work hard on all fronts.”
