TJSL students interested in helping law school applicants learn more about TJSL picked up the phone on March 21 for the first
ever Admissions Phone–A–Thon.

“The Admissions suite was buzzing with callers reaching out to newly admitted students,” said Tim Spearman, Director of Admissions. “The Admissions team is thankful for the students who are volunteering to help with this recruiting effort.”

The purpose of the Admissions Phone–A–Thon is to allow current students to make phone calls to incoming students and give them a warm welcome and answer questions about the student experience at TJSL.

“I think the phone-a-thon is a wonderful way to connect with new students,” said Jay Curatalo 2L. “It wasn’t so long ago that I myself was full of questions and nervous about what being a law school student entailed.  It’s a chance for me to give back to the school and help a new colleague all at once.”

“I volunteered for the Admissions Phone-A-Thon, because I wanted to tell prospective students about all the great things TJSL has to offer,” said Ricardo Elorza 2L. “I remember I was in their shoes exactly one year ago, having lots of questions about law school. I think it is a nice idea to have students call prospective students. It builds a great connection.”

The phone lines will be open from now until Friday, April 5 during the hours of 12 – 2 p.m. and 5 -7 p.m.

“Last year, as a first year student, I had a lot of questions about what to expect as a 1L – the classes, the organizations, and life in San Diego- so I believe that a phone-a-thon is a great opportunity to reach out to admitted students who may have these same questions,” said Marisol Gonzalez 2L. “Additionally, I feel that the phone-a-thon showcases the support available for students at TJ.”

In exchange for their time each volunteer will receive a free TJSL t-shirt and be served pizza.

“We have 20 students signed up to help make calls over the next two weeks,” said Spearman. “But we, of course are looking to add a few more volunteers to the list.”
