Brittany Walker (3L) to Intern in Arlington, VA

May 17, 2013

Brittany Walker (3L)

By Maysa Eissa, Esq., Associate Director of Career Services

Brittany Walker (3L) has secured a coveted position as the sole legal intern with Americans for Prosperity, a non-profit organization based in Arlington, VA. This organization is committed to educating consumers, business owners and the general public about the value and operation of an open and market-oriented economy. This summer, Walker will provide extensive research on tax, corporate, campaign finance, contract and employment law. She will also assist the organization’s General Counsel on upcoming state and federal legislative matters, including an upcoming case that will be litigated before the Supreme Court of Nevada.

Growing up in Las Vegas, NV, Walker developed a strong interest in local and state politics from a very young age. After earning an undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Walker served as the Finance Director of the Nevada Republican Party during the 2010 midterm elections. As Finance Director, she successfully created small and large-based donor fundraising programs for local, state and federal candidates. Walker was inspired to pursue a legal career after seeing attorneys advocate on behalf of federal candidates. During law school, Walker has remained active in local San Diego politics, as well as within the TJSL community. She currently serves as Secretary of Jefferson Law Republicans and intends to charter the TJSL Federalist Society next year. In addition, Walker completed a legal internship with the House Judiciary Committee in Washington, D.C., which has further inspired her to pursue a career that will allow her to combine her legal expertise with her strong political interests.

“I am very excited about this opportunity to return to the Washington, D.C. area,” said Walker. This experience will allow me to further strengthen my legal understanding of the law as it relates to a political interest that I feel very strongly about. This summer, I hope to learn more about election law and campaign finance, and I look forward to meeting members of the Washington, D.C. bar who may help me further my career aspirations.”
