Thomas Jefferson School of Law is very pleased to announce that a new scholarship has been established in collaboration with Lawyers Club of San Diego, a non-profit specialty bar association seeking to advance the status of women in the law, to support and improve the administration of justice and to promote equality of men and women in our society.

The scholarship will provide $2,000 to a TJSL student who demonstrates support of the mission of Lawyers Club and is academically among the top 50% of her or his law school class. The scholarship can be used only for tuition or books and will be awarded at the Lawyers Club annual Holiday Luncheon scheduled for Dec. 16. As a benefactor of Lawyers Club, TJSL traditionally has a table at that event.

For now the scholarship is designated as the Lawyers Club of San Diego Women and the Law Project Scholarship at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, however, suggestions are being solicited for a permanent name for the scholarship.

“We are delighted to have this scholarship established carrying Lawyers Club’s name,” said Joan Friedenberg, Executive Director of Lawyers Club of San Diego.

Applications for the award of the 2010 scholarship are due on Thursday, October 14, by 3 p.m. The completed application should be converted to a pdf and emailed, along with a resume, to Faculty Assistant Randy Ward at rward@tjsl.edu by the deadline.

The scholarship is administered by TJSL and the applications are evaluated by a Lawyers Club committee that will present a nomination for approval at the Nov. 3 meeting of the Lawyers Club Board of Directors.
