TJSL to Co-Host Reception for ABA President Jim Silkenat

Thomas Jefferson School of Law and the American Bar Association Commission on Immigration will co-host a private reception for ABA President James R. Silkenat on the evening of Tuesday, September 17, at the law school.
President Silkenat will be visiting the Otay Mesa Detention Facility and touring the Port of Entry that day with the Commission on Immigration, beginning with attendance at the Legal Orientation Program presentation by the Immigration Justice Project. TJSL alumna Elizabeth Knowles ’12 is the Director of the ABA’s Immigration Justice Project in San Diego and was instrumental in helping to organize the reception.
Invited members of San Diego’s legal community, the presidents of TJSL’s student organizations, faculty and Alumni Association Board members will be among the reception guests who will welcome President Silkenat and hear about his immigration initiatives and Legal Access Job Corps program.
Also in attendance will be TJSL Dean Thomas Guernsey, ABA Commission on Immigration Chairperson Christina Fiflis, Special Advisor to COI Karen Grisez, IJP Director Elizabeth Knowles, ABA Section on Litigation Chair Don Bivens, ABA Board of Governors Member Mark Schickman and District Attorney for the Twentieth Judicial District for the State of Colorado, Stan Garnett.
