TJSL’s Campus Wins Environmental Award for “Green” Concrete
January 11, 2012
Thomas Jefferson School of Law and the Hycrete company are going to be recognized at the annual GreenSite Awards during the World of Concrete conference in Las Vegas on January 24.
Hycrete is an environmentally-friendly concrete admixture used in the construction of TJSL’s new Downtown Campus. The product turns concrete into a waterproof barrier, saving more than $185,000 in construction costs and reducing the school’s carbon footprint dramatically.
This award will help “cement” TJSL’s standing as a green-building! TJSL is expected to receive LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
“We were pleased to use the Hycrete product as a way of avoiding the hydrocarbon materials that are not environmentally sensitive,” said TJSL Dean rudy Hasl. “Not only was the use of the product financially beneficial, but the use assisted us in qualifying for LEED Gold status.”
