TJSL’s Family Continues to Grow
January 24, 2014
Hallie Tremaine Balkin ’10 and Alexander Balkin ’11 are excited to welcome their baby girl in May. “I thought I’d share the news with TJSL since my growing family’s roots trace back to the old building in Old Town,” said Hallie.
The two met in Professor Julie Cromer-Young’s class in 2009 and are now settled in the Washington, D.C. area enjoying their federal positions.
Hallie Tremaine Balkin has spent the last three years serving the U.S. Federal Government and is currently the Assistant General Counsel for the Marine Corps Systems Command in Quantico, Virginia. While Hallie primarily concentrates on Contract and Acquisition Law, she also provides legal guidance in intellectual property, data rights issues, product defects, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), ethics and standards of conduct, fiscal law, and other Navy Office of General Counsel (OGC) areas of practice.
Her husband, Alexander Balkin is also a federal employee and currently works with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in Rockville, Maryland. Alexander provides regulatory compliance guidance on internal controls and federal fiscal law and assists with preparation of the Agency’s Strategic Plan. Balkin is responsible for extensive and complex evaluations of NRC policies, procedures, programs and their compliance with applicable laws, regulations and guidance. He provides agency level review and analysis of internal control, planning, performance management, contract management, and budget and financial management activities.
Both say they are extremely excited about starting a family and promise to keep their TJSL family updated.
