The TJSL Mock Trial Team recently competed locally in the San Diego Defense Lawyers Competition. The team finished fifth overall, barely missing the semi-finals round.
“It was wonderful to hear the competition judges, all San Diego practicing attorneys, complement our students on their preparation and execution. Our competitors worked very hard and to see that fact recognized by experienced lawyers was great,” said Coach Lilys McCoy. James Kiernan (3L) added, “It felt great to go out there and perform what we put so much work into. The coaches and the whole team really set us up for success and made our job easy and a lot of fun! We can't wait for the next competition to improve on what we've started.”
The team is now preparing for their next challenge, the ABA Labor & Employment Competition, which will be held in Los Angeles in mid-November. This challenge will draw teams from throughout Southern California. The winner will represent the region at nationals, which will take place in January. The team is excited to compete at the regional level again, given last years win at the TYLA Regional Competition.
