Professor Susan Tiefenbrun Helps Bring Shakespeare to Life

As part of Wiliam Shakespeare’s 450th birthday celebration, Professor Susan Tiefenbrun will be partnering with Academy Award Winning Actor Richard Dreyfuss for The Trial of Shylock, Ethics, Mercy and the Law, a performance of William Shakespeare’s “Pound of Flesh Trial Scene” from The Merchant of Venice on April 23, at the Bob Hope Patriotic Hall in Los Angeles.

The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and the American Legion Post 8 will be using a chapter in Professor Tiefenbrun’s Law and the Arts book that is specifically dedicated to Shakespeare’s “Trial Scene” in The Merchant of Venice.

Following the play, Professor Tiefenbrun will moderate a panel discussing the relationship of justice, mercy, ethics and the law. Prominent panelists include U.S. Congressman Adam Schiff, Hon. A. Howard Matz (Ret.), Federal Public Defender Sean Kennedy and Dr. Josh Holo, Dean of Hebrew Union College.
